The big news here in America was the recent Hurricane down in Louisiana and Mississippi. A hurricane is the same thing as a typhoon, and it is basically a very strong storm. The storm passed right though New Orleans, a major city on the Southern coast of America. The city not only was damaged by the strong winds, but there was a lot of flooding that happened. Hundreds, or thousands, of people died, and a lot more had to leave their homes. Although most people lived far away from the storm, and were not directly affected, people all around America donated millions of dollars to help the poor people that are living there, so that they can rebuild their lives.
